Printing ABS plastic can be a challenge which is why you often see 3D printers that have insulated enclosures. My printer at the time (MP select mini) was a small consumer grade device without an enclosure and to make matters worse, I lived at 13000ft in evaltion and the ambient temperature was cold to begin with. So I decided to not only build an insulated enclose using insulation foam, but I went a step further and made an active PID heater. To do this I modified a small heat torch and attached a relay, thermister and arduino to regualte the internal temperature of the enclose.
