During the COVID year 2021, rock climbing was the topic of my experience centered seminar. As my final project I designed a rock climbing "cam", 3D printed it, and tested it. I designed it based on actual rock climbing cams with the primary difference being that my design wasn't a cam at all. Instead it had a perfectly flat shape. This was done intentionally because I postulated that there would be certain circumstances (different cracks) where a flat cam that push directly out would be most effective. Through my testing I determined that this was not true. Traditional cams are far superior, but this was a fun learning experience regardless of the outcome.
